Itinerary
Day 01: City Tour Cusco
Transfer Cusco airport to the Hotel. Morning to acclimatize. After lunch in a restaurant of your choice we will meet for a walking tour. This tour includes a visit to the Cathedral which is over 450 years old , the temple of Korikancha and some museums.
At night we will have the opportunity to dinner together in one of Cusco’s finest restaurants and discuss the sights we have seen that day. (D).
Day 02: Ruins Tour Cusco
Normally you get a half day tour of the ruins outside Cusco, but we have decided this is not enough time to marvel at the creativity and workmanship that the Incas used. For this reason we spend a full day wandering about the ruins of Saqsaywaman, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara, Qenqo and X-Zone. We will also have the opportunity to enjoy a picnic lunch above the city of Cusco.( B, L). Lecture about Cusco and Andean history
Day 03: Sacred Valley Tour
Today we have the opportunity to visit the huge Inca complex of Pisac and also it’s colorful handicrafts market. After a buffet lunch in the Sacred Valley we move on to the village and Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo where our guide will explain some of the history behind this living Inca village. You have the evening free to dinner in the restaurant of your choice. However please ask if you wish to know some of our favorites. (B, L)
Day 04: Machu Picchu
Having breakfast aboard the Vistadomme train, surveying the Sacred Valley of the Incas we make our way to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary one of the greatest archaeological wonders on the planet. Here we will have a guided tour explaining some of the background behind this citadel. After a long day we will relax in our hotel. (B ,L)
Day 05: Machu Picchu - Cusco
For those that want to after breakfast we have the chance to visit Machu Picchu for a second day. This day without guide so that we may enjoy Machu Picchu at our own pace. Maybe you want to visit Huayna Picchu or the Moon Temple, this is your opportunity. In the afternoon we will return to the Sacred Valley. (B).
Day 06: Sacred Valley / Maras - Moray
Breakfast and we depart for Maras and the experimental terraces of Moray. It is believed this fascinating area is where the Incas created their own micro climate to adapt plants to the altitude. In the afternoon we will visit the salt mines that are just below Maras. These mines are still fully operational and you can see the campesinos at work on them. Return to Cusco in the evening. (B, L).
Day 07: Tipon and Pikillaqta.
Today we will visit the ruins of Tipon and also the Pre Inca Wari ruins of Pikillacta . On the way we will have a picnic lunch and end the day with a visit to the chapel of Andahuaylillas with its famous paintings. At night we will have farewell dinner with a live local dance show in Cusco. (B, L, D)
Day 08: Transfer out Cusco
Breakfast and transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Lima. End of our services. (B).
