Itinerary

DAY 01: LIMA TO CUSCO - WALKING CITY TOUR

You will arrive to Cusco, have a reception and will be transferred to the hotel. You will have time to acclimatize to the altitude. In the afternoon we will have the walking tour, this walking take 3 or 4 hours, walking along ancient streets, visiting the most important places such as the Main Square and the cathedral which was built over the Inca palace of Suntur Wasi, its construction took almost one century. Then we will visit the Qoricancha, the Temple of the Sun which was the most important temple for the Inca Culture. Entombed in the closed cloister of the Santo Domingo Church, we will continue to visit the most important museums; we will also visit the church of San Blas with its fabulously carved pulpit.

DAY 02: VISIT TO CUSCO SURROUNDING RUINS AND BIKING TO PISAC

After breakfast, we will visit the four archeological places such us: Sacsaywaman, Kenko, Pukapukara and Tambomachay; after this, we will reach the town of Taray where we will have lunch and after we will begin our bike ride to Calca. After it our private transport will take us to our hotel.

DAY 03: URUBAMBA RIVER RAFTING

After breakfast, we will hit the road for the Urubamba river where we will have one day of rafting. This section of rafting is excellent for first timers. It includes both class II and class III finishing with the class III + El Resbaladero (The Slide). After rafting, we will stop for a picnic lunch in the country side before heading to our camp site at Ollantaytambo, where we will have the night free to enjoy the countryside that surrounds us. Dinner will be available at our local community.

DAY 04: CUSCO – ÑAUPA IGLESIA – SOCCMA – PEROLNIYOC

From Ollantaytambo we will drive for a couple of minutes to Racca where you will start hiking to Ñaupa Church which was an inca worship place. The guide will explain us about the Inca religion and the Andean traditions.

After visiting this place, we will hike uphill until reaching the Andean community of Soccma, this community is nested in the heart of the Andes; here we will meet our horses and porters who will accompany us during the whole trek; at Socma the picnic lunch will be served. After the picnic lunch we continue the trek uphill to Perolniyoc, which has an amazing view of the Soccma valley, Maras plateau and Chicon snow-capped mountain; also we will appreciate the waterfall of Perolniyoc (328 feet).

DAY 05: PEROLNIOC -CHANCACHUCO

After breakfast we will start to walk following an Inca water channel; the trail goes up to Ccorimarca valley through ancient terraces locally known as “Andenes”, where the locals still grow crops. We will hike up to our first pass from where we will have an amazing view of the snow-capped mountains of the Urubamba range (Verónica, Chicón, Ausangate, Pachatusan and Salcantay) and the fields of Chincheros, Moray and the Maras plateau. After a break and a snack, we will continue through the small valley of Chancachuco, where we will have lunch next to the Andean lake of Maracocha, which drains its water into the stream of Chancachuco, through a long Inca water channel of 18 km. At this point we will have the opportunity to admire Andean birdlife, such as the Andean goose, the Cara Cara, the Andean flicker, among others. After a short rest and our picnic lunch we will continue downhill to our next campsite, with a spectacular view of the snow peak Huayanay, located in the Vilcabamba range (north). We will also have the opportunity to visit a local family house whose economy is based on potato farming and breeding of sheep. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

DAY 06:CHANCACHUCO-CACHICCATA QUARRY AND COMMUNITY CAMP

Early in the morning, we will head to the second pass over the mountain “Apu Buena Negra”, from where we will have a spectacular birds-eye view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the snow peaks of the Urubamba range. From this pass we will hike downhill following the trail until joining the Inca water channel coming from Maracocha Lake. From here we will reach the temple called Intiwatana, located on the edge of the mountain “Apu Alambre”, located in front of the Veronica, where traditional pagos (offerings to mother earth) are made. We will also have a great view of the Pakaritampu pyramid. We will then continue downhill to the archaeological site of Choquetacarpo, where we will have lunch. After this, we will walk downhill to visit one of the biggest Inca quarries in Cusco, which supplied stones for the town and fortress of Ollantaytambo. That night we will sleep in a beautiful campsite owned by a group of young local people from the Cachiccata community, hot showers and proper toilets will be available. From here, we will enjoy a wonderful view of this community as well as of Ollantaytambo and Verónica snow-capped mountain. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

DAY 07: TRANSFER TO OLLANTAYTAMBO TRAIN STATION – MACHUPICCHU TOUR

After breakfast, we will transfer you to Ollantaytambo train station to take the train to Aguas Calientes.

We will visit the Citadel of Machupicchu where you will have a Guided tour around Machupicchu and after that you will be transfer to your hotel where you will spend the night.

DAY 08: MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO CITY (PRIVATE SERVICE)

Early this morning you will get ready to go up to Machupicchu again with your guide. This would be your chance to hike Huaynapicchu Mountain to have an amazing view from the top of this mountain or just walk around the citadel and exploring this amazing place with your guide. At the settled time you will be taken to the train station to board the train back to Cusco.

DAY 09: CUSCO TO LIMA

You will have breakfast and will be transferred to Cusco airport for your flight back to Lima.
