5-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Into the Black Canyon of the Apurímac River
Meet in the imperial city of Cusco, Peru → scenic 3 hour Andean drive to the river put-in → riverside lunch + safety talk → float into the dramatic Black Canyon of the Apurimac River. The Apurimac River is the source of the Amazon River!
Overnight: River campsite
Day 2 — Whitewater & Waterfalls
A thrilling day of Class III+ rapids and a short hike to a hidden waterfall → transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Overnight: Boutique hotel, Ollantaytambo
Day 3 — Quechua Community Hike & Living Inca Culture in the Sacred Valley
Hiking into an Andean village for cultural exchange with the Huilloc community—learn traditions, share a communal lunch, and hear stories from local families → afternoon free to explore ancient Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo is a unique, living Inca town with well-preserved historical architecture and waterworks, and an archaeological site of 15th century Inca ruins.
